A thunderous event

Another storm tonight. It's a big one too, and has now moved right over us. The lightning show is incredible, and the thunder is ear-splitting.

One thing though, it has cooled things down considerably. I think today seemed like a pretty typical summer day in Brisbane - hot and humid. There's no comparison with the heat in Perth, it's altogether different.

It will definitely take some getting used to the subtropical climate here. One thing I am glad of though is that it doesn't get freezing cold here. We would get some very chilly winter mornings in Perth. I spent a winter in Canberra as a missionary many years ago, and I couldn't live in a place that gets that cold.

The tropical storms here don't seem so bad now...

  1. After a winter in Orange I said I could never live anywhere that got that cold. Now had 5 winters in Canberra. We are adjusting and I don't mind them now.

  2. I find that cold can be prepared for easier than heat - cold you can rug up, but there's only so many clothes you're allowed to take off in public when it's hot. - Adam
